Anthropic commits $200M to Economic Futures Research Fund for AI labor-market impact studies

Anthropic is launching a $200 million external research fund focused on studying interventions to prepare society for AI-driven economic disruption, building on its earlier Economic Futures program. The fund will prioritize five areas: workplace-level AI impact on workers, equipping people for AI-driven transitions, modernizing income support, building worker stakes in AI growth, and generating evidence on public investments. Grants will primarily range from $1M to $30M, targeting universities, research institutes, and nonprofits capable of running large-scale RCTs or ambitious pilots. The initiative reflects Anthropic's view that empirical evidence on effective interventions is urgently needed before AI-driven labor displacement accelerates.
